Ray Jordan’s Top 100 Whites
Hamelin Bay’s 2012 Rampant White featured in Ray Jordan’s Top 100 Whites in Ray’s annual tasting of more than 500 wines. This is what he had to say. “This southern Margaret River producer seems to get wines into the final line-up. This is their basic model but it delivers far more than you might expect at this price. Cool fresh tropical flavours with a light squeeze of lemon juice. Really zippy keen palate is focused and precise.
Ray Jordan’s Top 100 July 2012
Prominent Western Australian wine writer, Ray Jordan, has done his annual review of Australian Red Wines. Wineries are invited to submit wines in various price points with a limit of two per brand per category. Hamelin Bay 2009 Rampant Red was placed in the Top 100.
This is what Ray had to say:
“This year more than 500 wines were submitted from all of the major wine-growing areas and the task of culling this list down to 100 was difficult , to say the least. Even getting down to the final 150 was a challenge”.
Blends $15-$20 Hamelin Bay 2009 Rampant Red “Never fails to impress, does this wine from the southern Margaret River appellation. Real mouthful of flavour with ripe oppulent fruit displaying a mix of black fruits and plum pudding. The tannins are typically supple, while the oak is deftly understated.”
