90 points - Huon HookeRegion:
100% Five Ashes Vineyard, Margaret River.Colour:
The wine has a youthful pale straw lemon colour.Bouquet:
Aromas of poached pears intermingles with fresh lemon sorbet`. Fermentation and maturation in French oak has afforded an attractive overlay of vanilla and a subtle spicy toastiness which compliments the fruit precisely. The cool year and associated high natural acidity enabled a high proportion of the chardonnay to go through malolactic fermentation- giving the pear and citrus fruits a subtle honey glaze.Palate:
The palate is elegant and restrained at this stage- with excellent mid-palate depth, a long lingering finish and an attractive minerality typical for Hamelin Bay. The wine will continue to improve for at least the next two to four years in the bottle.Source:
