Margaret River Wine Show Nov 2011
Hi all, results from the 2011 Margaret River Wine Show were released this morning just as the bushfire is contained.
Hamelin Bay received 2 gold, 1 silver and 6 bronze medals.
Gold medals were awarded to the 2011 Hamelin Bay Sauvignon Blanc and 2011 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc with the Sauvignon Blanc being the best wine in its class for single vineyard Sauvignon Blancs.
A silver was awarded to the 2009 Mainbreak Shiraz.
Bronze medals to the Hamelin Bay 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009 Shiraz, 2011 Rose, 2009 Merlot, 2009 Chardonnay, 2011 Rampant White, Mainbreak 2009 Cabernet Merlot.

New Release – 2009 Merlot
Hamelin Bay Wines are proud to announce another addition to the fine array of wines we produce.
The recent release of the 2009 Merlot has been embraced from both stockists and cellar door customers.
The colour is bright red hue with a deep red centre.
Presenting beautiful aromas of chocolate, plum skin and red berry fruit, with spicy cedary oak and liquorice.
Displaying a bold midpalate with a moderate to long length of flavour and fine emery tannins to finish.
Lovely and approachable now but with structure to ensure ageing into the medium term.

Vibrant and fresh, with delicious aromas and flavours in the grassy citrus flavour spectrum, this beauty is wonderfully dry, crisp and refreshing, with balance and length to spare. Our panel loved the subtle, judiciously intergrated barrel-ferment characters, too."
Silver 17 points ~ Hamelin Bay 2008 Shiraz ~ "This wine opens with aromas of plums, black pepper and spice. The palate is edgy, showing sour cherry and black forest fruits and spicy, sinewy tannins. Hamelin Bay's winemaker, Julian scott, has been refining this style with knowledge gained from over a decade of experience in the Karridale sub-region. This wine is expected to be released mid year."

"This is a very classy complex chardonnay. The nose bursts from the blocks with a funky minerality and touches of custard tart. Tight tart grapefruit and honeydew melon on the palate with a zingy fine finish. Beautifully seamless, controlled palate."
